In order to implement a critical task in the Project “General Planning for Constructing and Developing Hanoi University of Science and Technology in the period 2006 - 2030”, Hanoi University of Science and Technology exhorted the establishment of an enterprise system within the university. This tactic aims to strengthen the bond between the University and the socio-economic environment, between education & scientific research and manufacturing & business; as well as better pursuing the education and research objectives according to the societal needs that the Party and the State set for the Vietnamese higher education system.

The main roles of the university's enterprise system are: 
•   Investing in scientific research and technological development; 
•   Investing in innovation research and experimentation, and incubating new technologies; 
•   Combining education with scientific research;
•   Implementing the manufacture of high-tech products;
•   Enhancing the dissemination and application of advanced technologies;
•   Providing training on adaptive skills and workforce development to serve industrial zones;
•   Offering scientific and technological services.

Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan attended the Establishment Ceremony of BK Holdings.

The strategic establishment of an Enterprise System within the University aims to mobilize resources the state, organizations, individuals, and domestic and foreign businesses to the process of researching, incubating, and commercializing the University’s scientific - technological products. By this way, scientists become contributors of capital, intellectual property, and effort in building the enterprises.

Organizing a system of enterprises within Hanoi University of Science and Technology based on a new model that ensures the interests of the university, collectives, and individual scientists is considered the only solution to motivate and enhance scientific research and technology transfer activities. 

Implementing the Project “General Planning for Constructing and Developing Hanoi University of Science and Technology in the period 2006 - 2030” with the goal to ‘develop Hanoi University of Science and Technology into a national key research university in science and technology, multidisciplinary education, that fulfils regional and global standards and quality; a reliable and attractive destination for the society, technology development investors, as well as domestic and international communities of business and finance', Hanoi University of Science and Technology announced the establishment of BK Holdings on 24th March 2008 with the approval of the Ministry of Education and Training. This is the first-ever enterprise model allowed to be established within a university in Vietnam.
